As we close out 2019, many of us will begin setting goals and making plans for the coming year ahead. The same thing is happening at Christ’s Haven For Children with the young adults in our Life Path & Transition programs.

We don’t believe at age 18 anyone should be expected to figure it out all on their own. Our Life Path & Transition Programs offer an alternative for children who would otherwise age out of the foster care system with little to no support.

Would you consider a year-end gift to help our young adults thrive in 2020?

These programs at Christ’s Haven ensure they have the tools and skills needed to enter adulthood. Our staff are intentional in mentoring and helping guide these young adults into learning specific skills during weekly classes and planning for a successful future:·

  • Life Skills– grocery shopping, budgeting, car maintenance & ownership, housecleaning, repairs, healthcare, etc.·
  • Future Planning – gaining rental history, college and/or career path, job training, setting goals, etc.

Through the generosity of donors like you, Christ’s Haven is able to provide housing, tuition assistance, a monthly stipend, transportation, mentoring, and other resources to provide the platform for a successful launch into adulthood. All while they gain independence and maturity with someone supporting and cheering them along.

“The budgeting class has been one of the most helpful Life Path/Transition Program classes so far. I still want to learn better time management before I finish the program,” said Blythe, who is in her freshman year of college.

Currently there are seven young adults in the program like Blythe working toward their bachelor’s degrees. Since its inception in 2009, 20 young adults have participated in the program obtaining mechanical school certification, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, personal training certification, dental hygienist training, etc. Over the years, Christ’s Haven has contributed $345,000 in scholarships for tuition.

As we ring in this new year, we ask you to continue supporting the mission of Christ’s Haven For Children to give young adults like Blythe the opportunity to thrive in 2020.
